Description
This first aid unit provides learners with the skills and knowledge required to provide first aid and is designed to meet the requirements from the HLT Health training package. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and other Australian national peak clinical bodies. This unit applies to a range of workers within an education and care setting who are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies. This includes early childhood workers and educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs.

Entry Requirements |
UMA College require learners to be aged 16 years or older and present photo Identification prior to course commencement. |
Qualification Requirements |
On successfully completing the training and assessment you will be issued a Statement of Attainment issuing you the unit of competency: HLTAID012 – Provide First Aid in an education and care setting; as nationally recognised training. |
Assessment Requirements |
The assessment requires the learner to complete a written knowledge assessment and demonstrate their applied knowledge and skills during a practical assessment. |
Delivery Mode |
Delivery of this course will be trainer led and delivered over one day of face-to-face in a classroom setting after approximately 8 hours of pre-course online learning, combined with skills practice and assessment in a simulated environment. |
Materials or Equipment Required |
Learners should attend the course in comfortable clothing. All equipment and consumables are supplied as part of the course. |
